Should I text this boy ?

There is this boy that I really like at school , and I have liked him for a couple months. I am in 8th grade by the way. Anyways, I have been trying to get to know him for a while now and I have one friend who has been helping me by telling the boy I like about me. So my friend gave him my number and he finally texted me, he texed me for a little while , then stopped. I texted him a couple of days ago, and we had a conversation then he randomly stopped texting me in the middle of it. Last night he randomly texted me and we had a conversation. After a while he said , " gtg cya" which means "gotta go, see ya". He hasnt texted me at all today, will he think its wierd if i text him ?
